Just bought this...

:l

Looks simple enough.

Guess I will test it out and see if it does what it says or if I will have a fire in my passenger seat!

Some of you may not have the black box with 2 wires, but instead have an oc3 mat with 3 wires, luckily its a simple fix also

No one done this before??
Did you figure this out? I've done it before but that car was turned into a track car.

You can just reset using INPA, just plug in look for error memory, clear error memory. But unless you do the bypass or fix the error will come back after a short while

Make sure your vehicle was not part of the recall campaign and do not take the dealer's word for it. Unfortunately you'll have to dig into this yourself by contacting BMWNA. Unless you know what the actual problem is and fix it you will be putting your and passenger safety at risk because you do may not know if the issue is a single fault or multiple fault. Do you have the actual documentation from the dealer stating what the problem was? it may come back as well if the dealer was wrong.

How do you know which type you have? The black box seems much more simpler

You can purchase the new Plug & Play passenger occupancy seat mat sensor emulator on eBay for about $67 I have it on my e60 525i and it works great. This one comes with the three wire plug for the newer BMW vehicles.

Thanks...I have never seen them with the connector on the end - What do you call those connectors? I have a friend that bought an emulator but it didn't have the connector just the exposed 3-wire.

So I bought a bypass emulator. Its setup for 2 wire connection. The problem I am having is that I cannot confirm whether or not I have the seat mat sensor. I think I found it. It was tucked up in the leather under the back of the passenger seat. It doesnt looks like everyone elses. Its covered in some yellow plastic casing.

I played with it and it has an extension of flat sensors going into and under the seat making me think that this is the mat. Anyone know?

Pictures do more justice.
