OK all done and works quite well.

Replaced the 100uf capacitor in the circuit with a 1000uf one and I now get 99.99% mute. Which is good enough for me. Even when you do hear something its simply a faint hum type sound. But that is when I was screaming into the mic placed 1 cm from my mouth something that I should never find myself doing while driving.

I will try and experiment with a SPCO switch (like Maplin N91AP) but depending on how the switch makes and breaks the circuit I may actually get the 'pop' again, so I'm not actually hopeful of a better solution.

Lastly as mentioned earlier if you want to do this try and rethink the switch position and keep it far from the mic if you want a truely pop-free effect because the latching sound of the switch is easily picked up by the mic sitting next to it.

I've attached the before and after pictures of the install with the modified circuit too.

Good work !!! Can you post the link to Maplin website for the switch information ? I have not been Maplin for a long long time (10 years), long before they have their website site.

All Maplin codes have been provided through the thread. The switch I actually use currently is N00AR. The Maplins website can be found at www.maplin.co.uk

While I had the CCC, I couldn't live without this button because of the number of conference calls I used to do from the car.

Since I have the CIC now that has the Mic Mute function, I don't need this any more.

If someone is interested in buying this from me please make me an offer. You will get a ready trim panel with the button and circuit attached. All you need to ensure is that you have the Grey Trim without the sunroof and the front airbag de-activator button. Everything looks completely OEM.
