Any idea of how to add a subwoofer cleanly?

One way to tell which wire is going to which speaker is unplug the wiring harness from the stock amp, prick the wires with a small pine and attach the other side of the pine to a nine volt battey this will give you low voltage feedback to the speaker in which the wire is attached. Be careful not to do this to the wires going to the radio. only do this to paired wires. i.e. purple black, black, purple, brown white, white brown. these are going to be your speaker wires. two of these pairs will be to the subwoofers and you can tap directly from these wires as opposed to doing anything within the cabin of the vehicle such as pulling out the seat to figure out the color of the wires.
I hope the crossover works out for you.? I too was pondering the bass tube option as well.? I figured it would be easy to figure out which wires went to which speakers.? Maybe there is a wiring color-coded diagram out there somewhere?? Did you tap into the power and ground going to the amp in the trunk?? Check out Lenk's post about his soon-to-be subwoofer add-on.? Anxiously awaiting pics and feedback from his JL Audio setup he's getting installed.
This is what I received from Bavauto:
We don't have a Plug 'n Play subwoofer system for the E60's at this time. I'm sure we'll explore the possibility of a solution for the new 5's, but if they are anything like the new 7's and the recent 3's, the stereo system may be too complicated for a simple plug-in system. Rest assured, if its possible, we'll offer it! You might want to try us back in 6 months or so.

My subwoofer won't be finished until October 8, 204. My car has been at the dealer for a software upgrade for the phone gone bad which required replacment of the CAS unit, DME, Gateway Unit, MASK and signifigant reprogaming as a result of a software crash when loading the phone software. Just gote the car back yesterday and although the box is finished they can't get me in to run the wires until next week.
So much for Windows Version BMW 13.2. I only hope Bill Gates and his top programmers have to endure a 5 or 7 series for just one week.

Did we all let this topic die...or did we conclude that there is no hope for us E60 owners with aftermarket entertainment upgrades? Geesh...all the press out there talks about how this new MOST network in the E60 is so high-tech, but we can't even add our own aftermarket parts?! Oh well.
