NoQuarter, you advised hooking up to batter tender, I take it it's because the flashing/programming takes a while?
Obviously, it's not the same, but I have left my car door open with all the lights on, etc. for few hours before while I was doing work and it's been okay. Just wondering if it's necessary since I don't have a garage to work on my car nowadays.

I am familiar enough now that I could make a known change pretty quickly and do it without a charger. But just starting out you have to be very careful in what you do and it takes time. Experimenting with different settings and the mutiple coding sessions will require a battery charger.
Not quite the same as just leaving a door open. The programming, the ignition on, the OBD port connected all put a heavy drain on the battery and you will get a low battery check/excessive drain check message in a very short time. When I am done, I keep the charger connected for several hours until my charger indicates a full battery.

You will need NCSExpert software. Lots of threads on downloading it from various servers. The cable I ordered on Ebay from China came with a disk with the software included.

Very nice work. But isn't there any "hot" wire in the engine compartment that you could use rather than going through the firewall to capture that hot wire?
