Adding speed camera POI to your SatNav DVD
#21
Well I obviously have nothing better to do than choose totally stupid POIs to add to the system.
Just added UK Supermarkets to Pub. places, businesses, shops and UK Fast Food outlets (of all things(!!)) to Hotels and restaurants.
Nothing like lowering the tone!!

Sadly, I'm interested. Where do you get the POIs from?

You have the 2006-02 NAV DVD. There are a couple of new sections in the eng.lsc file that also need updating in addition to the ones mentioned previously however they are easy to spot. It's just a case of working your way through each of the new sections and copying then renaming as required.
If you really get stuck just shout and I'll show you what I mean.

Mathmos - I'm working my way through your brilliant instructions but your comment above has thrown me a bit - which additional sections within the eng.lsc file need updating? Your further help would be much appreciated.

SA 7395 10002 10008
SA 9101 10003 10008
Should that become
SA 7395 10002 10008
SA 9000 10003 10008
SA 9101 10003 10008
I'm not sure what the last numbers refer to exactly.

I presume it means to add a line for "9000" everywhere you see 9101.
SA 7395 10002 10008
SA 9101 10003 10008
Should that become

On closer inspection of the file I think there are a few other places to add the 9000 entries to, eg.
1. the section beginning with IA (below the SA lines) and
2. the section beginning with TPD-SEV (where the .idx and .url files creared earlier are referenced) toward the end of the file.
Will give it a try and see what happens.

Thanks Banglebox - Also not sure what the second sets of figs are meant to be - at first glance they appear to refer to the TPD-GRP entries earlier in the file (?)
With mathmos' help, the suggested vallues for SpeedCams is:
Code:
SA 9000 10004 10008
Code:
SA 9003 10003 10008
Code:
SA 9004 10002 10008

Mathmos,
Thanks very much for the detailed instructions.
After a couple of false starts, I have a 'working' DVD, first 2 attempts used CR+LF in VEdit and I think that stopped them from working.
Although the DVD now works, it throws up DVD Read Errors randomly, probably due to very old blank DVDs I had. I am about to buy new media and just wondered if you had come across good/bad brands in your experiments!
Does the E60 read DVD+R or just DVD-R? Which produced better results?
Cheers.
