Hi Mathmos,

Hope you had a nice holiday..?

I am using NERO Reloaded v6 to burn the DVD.
All seems to correct as the files are on the disc as they should be, but when I insert it into the drive
then there is no recognition and it contiues to call for the disc.

I realise that you are being inundated by requests for assistance - once I can get this sorted then I
will be able to make my own updates as and when required.

Thanks for your assistance.

Kind regards
Andy
Hi Andy,

Make sure you are

a) following exactly the How To with regards the settings for Nero
b) try burning the disc at the slowest speed. As a matter of interest what disc are you using DVD+R, DVD-R etc?

regards,
Simon

Simon,

I gave up beating my head against my PC trying to burn the disc with NERO.
All of the files seemed to be constructed OK, so I tried using the ISO method with a DVD+RW and it worked 100% first time...!!

Thanks again for your fine contribution.

Regards
Andy

Glad you got it working. Unfortunately the Nero way does seem to be a bit hit and miss for some people, I have no idea why! but the Image way always seems to work so if ever anyone has any problems my advice would always be to try the Image way to see if that helps.

Thanks Mathmos. Great instructions. I've just followed the guide and created my first DVD from the 2006-1 with Speed Cameras from Pocket GPS World.

I used the Nero method. Strangly th Sat Nav wouldn't recognise a DVD+RW so I used a DVD+R and that was fine. Only a cheap PC World blank at that, whereas the RW was a Phillips. Anyway I'm up an running. Thanks again Mathmos...

What POI's have people added extra? I was thinking of adding the Shell Stations as I like to stick to Optimax.

I have also added the current list of BT Openzone sites so that I can more easily find some some WiFi.

Cool

Maybe I've missed the point but is possible to have the NAV to warn near speed cameras?

To talk? to give a BEEP or something like that ????

Thanks,
Mf

Here's the results of my "groups hack". I've successfully added 2 groups. One for speed cameras, and one for favourites.

I created a list of company offices. Using postcodes, I translated them into long/lat using SteetMap.co.uk, and then created my own ASC file, and company logo (gif). Not because I need it, just because I could

I managed to create a similar list of POI differentiaded as they are under GPSPOI

My issue is: how do I enable different POI categories to be shown? always shown?
Looking in it I've noticed this line:
TPD-GRP 1 41000 41008 47366 41005 47317 49112 41010 47352
the category definition is:
TPD-CAT 1 Y MAIN (NAT. IMPORTANCE)

now the different items present in the group are not shown anywhere!
Did anyone understood where they are used?

I have:
TPD-CAT 8001 N Autovelox fissi
TPD-CAT 8002 N Autovelox mobili
TPD-CAT 8003 N Corsie Preferenziali
TPD-CAT 8004 N Dissuasore
TPD-CAT 8005 N Porte Ztl Firenze
TPD-CAT 8006 N Semafori
TPD-CAT 8007 N Sicve-Controllo
TPD-CAT 8008 N Sicve-Fine
TPD-CAT 8009 N Sicve-Inizio
TPD-CAT 8010 N Sorpassometri
TPD-CAT 8011 N Telecamera Amica Firenze
TPD-CAT 8012 N ZTL Italia
TPD-CAT 8013 N Ztl Varchi Roma

Everything is fine in the DVD, I can find them through menu navigation but I do not know how to activate them.

Any help is welcome

The funny thing is that the icons are not all working.
Semaphores are OK, the others are shown as O with a . in the center! very funny!
this evening I'll re ckeck everything.

FOUND
The issue was with SPACES
the filename of the gif file MUST NOT HAVE any space in it otherwise the icon is not shown....

Did anyone understood what was the:
#TPD-ACCESS-BROWSER <y/n>
TPD-ACCESS-BROWSER N

#TPD-ACCESS-API <y/n>
TPD-ACCESS-API Y

Mf

Hi Guys,

I have tried following all of these instructions, but have a couple of questions.

I dont have TDP-GRP 10001, in fact all the numbers are two digits. Do i create this? Much the same with the rest of the edit, i only seem to have two digit numbers in my LSC file (Maybe i have a differant disc?) (I have a VDO 2006-1 disc & a 2004-1 disc and both look similar when i open them)
I have the database, vedit & cygwin along with a bundle of blank DVD's. Just need a little guidence as i am keen to do this myself rather than buy a ready done disc from Ebay!
I have installed cygwin and it seems to work although i get a no such file or directory error at this point!

Maybe im beyond help and should go back to Ebay???

Mathmos, first of all thanks to you for the excellent instructions! Due to your help patching my 2006-02 DVD with the speed cam POI worked like a charm.

However, as I want to add additional POI, I still have no clue about the values that I have to enter in the "SA" section of eng.lsc (#SA <category-id> <list of searchable attribute description ID's>). For example, I tried to add a new category "cash machines" with cat-id 9002 to "Pub. places, businesses, shops", right next to the shopping centres. Seems to me that entering random values like

SA 9002 10002 10008

renders this category not working. Do you have any knowledge about the purpose of these values, and the system behind this? Obviously the values 10002, 10008 and so forth are referencing the values of the #SADESC section right above.

Any ideas in the group?

Thanks and best regards, Michael
