OK if you don't end up with that long screw stuck in a run flat.

Here's the ultimate solution without buying new exhaust... and more.

545 / Exhaust Valve Opened & 1 set of resonators removed? by? ch7656

Rizbel, I also have 14 pounds of resonator removed and lying in the garage. I removed the bigger resonator. Even so, I am disappointed in the results. there is a much better exhaust note coming off the X3 loaner. Been thinking about getting an X3 3.0i muffler.

Replaced safety wire with 2-1/8" hook and eye turnbuckle and 1-3/4" S-Hook from local hardware store. Safety wired for added security.?

Performed today the same procedure as you Rizbel, using the same eye turnbuckle..pretty safe and easy!! Thanks for the tip.

As for the sound, it's just want I wanted in the low rpm's...sounds throatier!!!

As far as I am concerned, you are better off to leave the resonators and flap on the right exhaust alone. Once I get past the lemon law experience, I plan to replace the big resonator and install a sport muffler. Playing with the flap may help you fool yourself for the short run, but in the long run you will wonder why you did it. Spend that time better by washing off wheel dust.
