Unfortunately it's normal on the E60. Get them painted or go with the Brembos like I eventually did.

Slightly different approach- clean then very well and use a very fine wirebrush to polish the aluminum, then clear coat them with a heat resistant clear spray. I did that to mine and they look better than brand new, especially with the rivet heads all shiny.
