Question

Okay - I drive to and from Vegas from Orange County last weekend and on Monday morning I know that I'm meeting some clients for lunch. The car has got ugly bugs all over it so I try to get the guy who works in my parking garage to wash it. Too late, won't be done. So I resort to using a self-serve that I've used many times before in the past with good results. Well, my luck ran out. I checked the brush and it was soft and fine, but it left very fine scratches ALL OVER my car.

Thanks to the dealer for the wonderful 3 week wax job they did prior to delivery, if any.

Now, what is the best way for me to proceed guys and gals. What is the best polish for this type of situation? The paint is only 2 months old, I don't want to mess it up (worse than I already have that is). Obviously, when I'm done I will protect with multiple coats of rejex or wax, I've not decided.

Thanks!!!!

Ouch. That blows.

I would take it to a pro ... a good detail shop. With some moderate polish they can buff out the swirls - and lay on some excellent protection for you.

I imagine that if you tried to polish it yourself by hand you might help it out some, but a machine polish is the way to go. And unless you have experience, go to a pro.

Thanks for the pics. My Monaco Blue baby is due for delivery in 3 weeks. Arriving in New York tonight.
I figure 2 weeks at the VPC with aero kit install. Seeing yours gives me hope. I hope mine is born without any defects. My wife thinks i'm insane as I approach the final days of pre-delivery car jitters.

If you want to do it yourself I would suggest Griots garage polishes. The polish comes in 4 different strenghts. They are designed just for your type of problem. I used these quite effectively on my 2003 LeMans Blue M5. typically used #3 for most swirl marks. You can't burn the paint with these polishes. It breaks down as you polish. You will also need an orbital poisher such as one made by Porter & Cable.

Hey Patrick......no big worries here...there are a lot of good products to take out the brush marks....they are only slight surface scratches in the clear coat I would imagine..... If it was me, I would find a good detailer to polish mechanically, just make sure it's someone you trust to put a polisher on your car.....and you'll be good as new!! Your car is gorgeous by the way!!

All is well. Really had a bug to get some protection on the car and did not want to wait for an appointment with a pro, or for some of the more popular polishes and waxes to get here so I went down to my local Kragen and stocked up.

Washed with Mr. Clean System with clean microfiber mitts. Let drip dry, no spots. Then used Meguiars Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner. Then Meguairs Deep Crystal Polish (bye bye brush marks!). Both the cleaner and polish were applied with foam applicators and removed with clean microfiber towels. I then put two coats, front to back, of the Deep Crystal wax. I used a microfiber coated foam applicator and clean microfiber towels to remove excess. The results are outstanding. Deep blues and most important -- no brush marks!!!
