What have I done?

Switched to studded winter tyres, changed the window washer fluid with one that won't freeze, put the space-saver wheel and jack into the trunk.. and I'll polish it pretty soon, and treat it with AutoGlym's Extra Gloss Protection sealant. But I guess I've got the facilities to do that during the winter aswell. Also I ought to get some rubber floormats for the front, but that really isn't a big problem.

Fabulous. Thanks for all the thoughts.

I got out of this the following points;
- change the tires,
- change the washer fluid
- a number of approaches for waxing and sealing
- rubber floor mats
- keep it in the garage
- convince my bride to let me keep my 10 year old 4 Runner that the 530 "replaced" and drive it in the snow instead.
- move to Southern California
- but don't move to San Diego

I think that summarizes this thread. Great stuff.

Thanks a bunch.
