Unless it's orbital, I'd run away from that as fast as you can...

Go to griotsgarage.com They've got everything you need, including a downloadable detailing manual. I have a 6" random orbital (Porter Cable makes it) as well as a 3" pneumatic. It's all good stuff and you won't screw up your paint. Rudy is spot on - you MUST use a random orbital or your cause swirl marks or possibly burn the paint due to heat build up.

That rotary drill will damage your paintwork faster than you say "holy shit!"

LoL...he is correct...that picture represents plastic/glass polishing. Don't have to worry about burn in on the headlights. Rotary is best used by professionals when trying to correct paint and/or remove oxidation. A D/A or dual action like the Porter Cable mentioned is better as it rotates as well as oscillates making it harder especially for a beginner to burn paint.

Do not go rotary unless you are a professional detailer. You have to get a Random Orbital to start. I went with Griot's and it's great. I got the red pads for wax from Griots and the white, polishing pads from Autotopia.

Zaino Z5 Pro for Red Wax Pads.

Zaino All-in-One or Z-PC for the White Polish Pads.
