Ok, so my car is in pretty bad shape (for my standards.) I drove the car to Vegas and back over the weekend and it the car hasn't really been "detailed" since I had purchaesd it back in December 2011. I'm looking to give the car a good bath and whatever touch up I can over the weekend.

I don't have a DA Polisher, so I'm looking to buy one for around $100 (preferably under $100.)

1.
Porter-Cable 7346SP 6-Inch Random Orbit Sander with Polishing Pad Porter-Cable 7346SP 6-Inch Random Orbit Sander with Polishing Pad

2.
Black & Decker WP107B 7" Sander / Polisher Black & Decker WP107B 7" Sander / Polisher

Can any of the gurus on here shed some light on these two DA Polishers? I'm looking to get some light swirls out and just make the paint shine deeper.

Here's my plan of attack:

1) Wash w/ Meguiars Gold Class & Microfiber Towels
2) Clay
3) Dress Tires
4) Polish ( Can anyone recommend any affordable consumer Polishes for noobs )
5) My attempt at removing swirls
6) Wax and/or Sealant ( Can anyone shed some light on this for me? )

Thanks in advance for all your help guys.

Thanks Phil. If only I lived near you to get some tips in detailing my car. You sir, do amazing work.

Unfortunately, that kit is a bit outside my budget..but then again, I guess it is within my budget considering all that comes with the kit.

So with the kit listed above, would I use the cutting pad with the included compound and the finishing pad with the included finishing wax? What would I use for swirls?

Thanks again Phil.

The Porter Cable is a dual action orbital and the Black and Decker you reference is a rotary polisher.

Get the dual action. Much more forgiving vs. the rotary and you can get good results with a DA and the appropriate pads and polishes.

Given your $100 budget that Porter Cable is a great option. Remember though you need to purchase pads and polish. The pads will run $6 to $10 each and you probably need a couple of varieties of polish as well.
