I had my ride treated with Perma Plate Paint Guard, a warrantied product that protects the paint. I think it is an acrylic product. It comes with a "renewer" bottle that I apply every couple of months. It's supposed to last up to 6 months if you park in a garage. It works very well.
I haven't had any problems with the paint being etched by anything.

No etching here, but I stay garaged a lot. I have had bird droppings, but no etching. It has been a while since I put in a plug for Rejex, but the application I gave it back in early June is still going strong. No relief on the wheels, though. At one time, some thought Rejex was the answer to brake dust. No such luck for me. I treated two wheels on one side and can't tell a significant difference, if any.

Try Never Dull. I stand by it pretty well. After you apply it all you have to do is spray off the dust with water.

Thanks for the tip, Kris. I'll keep that one on the shopping list for the time being. Brake dust has never been a big bother to me. I do my wheels with plain water and a couple of wheel brushes 90% of the time. Normal is for me not to let them get really dirty. I am usually easy on the brakes anyway. I use the gears a lot. That 540 I passed to my son currently has 96.000 miles on the original linings, front and rear.
