I polished my friend's Honda Accord TypeS yesterday. Graphite gray (not sure about the right name of the color). Awesome color!
Clearcoat and scratches:
The surface wasn't the baddest. Typical swirls, but not too many deep scratches. Those deep scratches that I found, were somehow untypically very short in length.
Wash and cleaning:
I used the stuff mentioned in the list below. Claying was a true must this time. Lots and lots of debris was caught in clay.
Pads, compounds and polishing:
I wanted to do the car in one day. As it is a Japanese car, I though I could survive it with a one stage job, but no. Well, managed to do it on one day, but it required two stages.
At first I tried only Flex PE 14-2 + Lake Country white polishing pad + Dodo Juice Lime Prime, but it was too lame combination for deeper scratches. It did the trick for the swirling, though. I know LP contains fillers, and I checked the outcome with IPA wipedown.
So, I continued with the Flex PE 14-2 + LC orange light cutting pad + Menzerna PO203S combination, and WTF?! The surface got very hot very fast, and I wasn't able to break down the polish properly. It just stucked in paint. However, the combination worked fast, fortunately, and I was able to achieve a decent outcome. I think the clearcoat was just so soft.
Because of lots of polish residues on the paint, I had to do a real IPA washdown instead of only wipedown haha! Oh, by the way, the right side doors were repainted, and I didn't have any problems there.
Ok, I wanted to ensure a hologram free result and I decided to do the second stage with a Flex XC 3401 VRG + Dodo Juice Lime Prime + LC white polishing pad. I really like the DJ LP, because it is very nice to work with. Lots of similarities with the Britemax #4 Black Max, which I like as well.
Sealant and finishing:
I put a Finish Kare 1000P on top of LP, and some Meguiar's Gold Class Endurance Tyre Gel onto tyres.
