you know how after you wash your car and clean your rims u just want to get in it and go for a little ride, and then when you come back u notice that u have to clean your rims again! well my buddy just told me theres a solution to all of this break dust, he reccomened using car wax... preferably "mothers" on the rims, JUST THE RIMS not the rotors or anything like that (i know i may sound stupid, but i dont want to get blamed for anything.) After applying the wax to your rims, buff it off... you will notice abig difference in how clean your rims will stay...

Yes, waxing rims is always a good idea - they are clearcoated and it's good protection. Should make dirt and particles a little less prone to sticking.

As an interesting aside, the manual for my previous car (a 2001 VW) recommended applying petroleum jelly to the wheels (I shit you not) and my car was delivered with a greasy substance all over the rims that I can only assume was the aforementioned. It might be good protection, but talk about a mess!

Changing pads to performance dustless pads also helps. :-)

Wax seems to work the best, tried just about every other gadget

Hi,

I use Poorboys Wheel Sealant with mixed results. Easy on, a bit less easy off.

The cleaning of the sealed rims is very easy. This indeed makes a huge difference to the not sealed rims. A short wipe and the dust is gone.

On the other hand I got the impression that the sealed rims attract the dust faster than before use. After a short distance already the rims seem to become a little greyish.
But maybe I?m just more critical than before.

Hi,

Try Zymol Wheel Cleaner and Wheel Coat together with Wheel brush from Day 1, it helps my rims from tanishing even after many years of driving.

I had a habit of telling my friends to engage a Ma Ma (indian man) to do daily wash ONLY the rims. That helps alot and cost alot less. Just tell them not to wash body, they will kill your paint after just 1 wash. Generally, body can last a week driving daily without rain.

Best wishes,
Car Lover
