Hello all,

Okay I'm sorry if I seem really ignorant here, but I just wanted to know your opinions on detailing my car. Have 2004 525i orient blue, and I want to take it to a good detailing place in town but most so called "experts" that I talk to tell me stay away from detailers. They say since my car is new, detailing isn't neccessary. Here is the local detailing place that I want to take it to:

www.carprettymodesto.com

Please look over this site and tell me what you think. I called them up to ask about a concern I had regarding buffing, they said when buffing they do not take a layer of paint off like most detailers do.

Thanks all.

if your car doesnt have any fine scratches (or 'swirls' as theyre called in detailing cirlcles) then theres no need to polish. you can just do a clay, paint polish, wax yourself.
if it does have swirls, then a good detailer can polish them out.
have u taken a look at autopia.org ... perhaps someone in your area can recommend a good detailer.

I won't trust my car to any detail shop.

The people they employ typically don't know jack about car care. They'll put more swirl marks on your car trying to get them out.

You obviously have to be careful about where you go, but there's nothing like a *good* detail job. If you're car is new, though, you probably don't need it yet. I got my car detailed after two years and it came out looking, feeling, and smelling like new.
