Took a mental health day and did 3 more rounds of polish (one polish treatment and the clay bar were done previously), the sealer and the finisher. I can see now that polishing is a step beyond waxing. This nicely brings out the colour flecks of the metallic paint. Of course the fact that the paint is on an E60 makes a big difference too!
Next on the docket, oil change. Anyone find a good place for the jack stands? There is the frame cross member however that seems to leave the car fairly high which could impact complete drainage. Thoughts are appreciated.
Cheers!

Good for you. I'd just go to wal-mart and pick some up. if you're just doing an oil change all you need is a hydraulic floor jack. Pump it up, unloosen bolt, and lower the car and let drain...then proceed to rest of steps. Jack back up when you need to put the drain bolt. I let mine sit overnight one time and more than a quart dripped out. Talk about an extended oil change. I thought because it stopped dripping it was dry. Next day more than a quart of oil on garage floor.
truth be told i broke the stupid drain bolt. Now i have a few in the tool chest just in case.....it's not the first time. They're so easy to get out though

Thanks for the insight. I also realised after posting that I may still have the ramps that I used to use with my 7 so I could go that route as well.
Is the oil capacity still 7 quarts? I know it was with the M54 and was figuring that boring out from 2.8 litres to 3.0 might not be enough to change the amount.

Thanks for the insight and comments! That will be my project this weekend or next.
I agree that a good looking BMW is a sight to see. I am not at q-tip level as that is really difficult to maintain however I am happy that I progressed from waxing to polishing.
