My wheels were bad, the only thing that removed the baked on brake dust was polishing compound. A coat of wax on the wheels has so far made them very easy to clean just using soap and water.

That will melt completely off within 2 weeks. If you want durability protection on wheels you will be needing a wheel sealant like Poorboy's wheel sealant.
Exactly--using traditional wax on your wheels is a waste of time--it will quickly break down under the high heat. I've used Rejex on my wheels for a few years with great results. Also great on exhaust tips (minimizes yellowing and black gunk build up) and windshield (minimizes bug splats).

Hi, stream. I had the same experience with the windshield. I cleaned some pretty bad splatters with the washers--surprised me. With the RejeXed wheels, I do pretty well with just water and a wheel brush. I clean before I get a heavy buildup. For road tar and burned wheel rubber, I find that RejeX is a good remover on wheels--lower body, too.

Armor All makes a wheel cleaning product that you spray on and then rinse off... I tried it recently and was pretty impressed! The dust literally just ran off with the rinse. It is supposed to be safe for all wheels. It has a strong amonia base to it and it is advised to not get on your skin. Could burn. But... It works really well.
I felt the same way... so I tested on set of wheels that I have laying around. They have a similar painted finish. I didn't see any obvious problems, so I took a chance and used the product. So far so good.

i use 'eagle all-in-one' wheel cleaner and it works brilliantly, spray it on, wait 2 minutes, then hose it off.
anyone care to comment on swtiching the OEM brake pads to ceramic pads? (which have no dust) i know some people will say that they will eat your rotors, but when was the last time you had to get a brake-job and they DIDNT change the rotors anyway?????

Michelin has a new product called Brake Dust Eliminator.? Have not had a chance to try it yet; read about it in some of the car mags.

I've tried this product (available at Autozone) and it doesn't totally eliminate brake dust but my wheels are much easier to clean.
