how many cans did you use to cover all the engine bay?
Can(s) ? Take it easy man !

I think I only used a 1/4 from the one can ! The trick is to clean well the engine beforehand as I explained, then just spray as if you were painting something and didn't want any running drops - thin applications at a time. That's the trick to getting a nice and sturdy film created.

You're a role model for all of us, Andy!

Thank's for the tip, I'll buy it next time a pass a dealer. I didn't even know BMW has that stuff (stupid me),

Nice job.
For the "lazy" ones (including myself) who hate the toothbrush there is a product called "CD-2". Comes in two spray cans; one is engine cleaner which you spray on a slightly warm engine and wash out in about 10mins. The other is engine varnish which gives the same look you saw in Andy's car.

It usually last between 6 to 9 months depending on where you live. The best part is that CD-2 contains no petroluem solvents that may attack hoses and paint. I have been using it for almost 10 years. The best part is it costs only $7 from your local PepBoys.

Google CD-2 and there are many places selling it. I doubt it can be shipped by air to HK. Spray cans are prohibited on planes.
