Hello folks!
The car:
I got something to polish last weekend; Audi A8 2004, metallic black (ebony black or phantom black). A beautiful thing overall with its air suspension and stuff :argie:.
The polishing job took about 16 hours, and I shared it on two days. The owner had already washed and clayed the car when I arrived. The job was properly done, so starting off the polishing was easy for me.
Scratches and clearcoat:
The surface was all grey because of the usual swirls, and some deeper scratches revealed along the polishing. There were also couple of very deep scratches which were all the way through to the base paint. I decided to not to worry about the deeper scratched, as I see it more important to "save" the clearcoat and get the swirls out instead.
The other side of the car was resprayed, but it was as swirly and scratchy as the other side.
Pads and polishes:
The job was two phased. The first round I took with a Flex PE14-2 + Lake Country CCS yellow cutting pad + Menzerna PO203S combination. I've used Meznerna PO85RD 3.02 before, but with my last order I replaced it with the PO203S. The PO203S (Power Finish) is at least as great polish as the 3.02. Actually I think it's better! It finishes better as it doesn't need any water or quick detailer to keep it workable longer :thumb:. At least how I felt it with this car. Sure the clearcoat has its affect too on this.
The second round was done with Flex XC 3401 VRG + Lake Country CCS white polishing pad + Britemax #4 Black Max. Black Max really jewelled the finish (with average pressure and high rpms).
Waxing and finishing:
I put on the Finish Kare 1000P as a last step product. The owner had already used his products on tyres so there wasn't much for me to finish lol!

Thanks.
The owner has had the car only for three months so I think he's not the one to blame . He knows the right washing techniques etc. so I think the car may stay in a good condition in the future .
