I read somewhere that you should use a 50/50 solution of iso alcohol / water to remove compounding residues. Can you use it after using Menzerna 106FF for inspecting & wiping off residue?
Will it remove some of the gloss or anyting else if you do it this way?
Thanks

I've heard that using IPA mixed with water as well for inspecting the paint after polishing, although i never tried it yet
I know Menzerna has the similar product called "Top inspection" but dont know is it the same as the IPA mixed with water
But i'm pretty sure it wont remove the gloss or anything if you are using abrasive polsih(But becareful on plastic trim i suspect), it used for removing the residues/polishing oil left behind after polishing.
I wanna know more info about IPA mixed with water as well, anyone?

Remember that Isopropyl alcohol sold in the drug store is usually already diluted with water, and there are several strengths available. If you're going to buy a gallon can, it is more likely to be pure.

IPA is what my friend uses to prove whether detailing shop mask or really remove those swirls....
some detailing shops claims they polish the swirls... after a few sprays of IPA and wipe it down... all came back...booo...

Yes, Menzerna uses Glycerine mainly and some mineral oils as a carrier for it's aluminum oxide abrasives. It is recommended that you spray IPA on the surface to inspect because it breaks down those oils and removes them, but most importantly perform this wipedown before applying any type of LSP such as an Acrylic Sealant like Klasse, Carnauba like P21S 100%(My new fav), or Synthetic/Polymer Sealants such as Zaino.
I use a 50/50 mix of the 90ish% isopropyl alcohol with distilled water.
Also, it's helpful when using cheaper compounds that contain caolin clay fillers to hide swirls, haze, and scratches. Unfortunately, most actual detailing 'shops' don't even bother, and after a few weeks those fillers will wash out, leaving you with a horrendous collection of holograms. Wonderful. IPA removes these for an unobstructed view of your work even when using these cheapo compounds.
Oh, and always use a high quality microfiber with minimal pressure. Don't use cotton terry cloths to inspect the paint, especially after such a fine polish like 106FF nano. You will mar the paint, especially if you are removing the oils and rubbing directly onto the freshly polished, bare paintwork itself.
Great choice in polish BTW. Great stuff.

Not sure about car cleaning, but I tell my patients to make an ice bag using 3 cups ISA to 1 cup water, keeps it a nice soft gel form/doesn't get hard and stiff like ice, perhaps useful for all those complaining of back pain...

I can do hundreds of situps and still get aches from running those polishers for 8-10 hours straight. I'm only 21, quite athletic, and my back still hurts a little after a full day of detailing. Believe me when I say that your advice was not ignored by at least one person, thats for sure .
Thanks doc!
