I believe you are talking about technicians, not service advisors. Service advisors are paid on commission. Good cust service + good mechanical knowledge of the BMW product + honesty = a good career. Must also consider the overall reputation of the dealership.

My Ride: 2006 525XI, Jet black on Dakota beige. Premium and winter packages. I consider myself a purist and intend to keep my car absolutely stock and shiny.
2008 328I Convertible, Sapphire black on beige interior. Premium package, NAV, iPod adapter.
Retired: 2002 325I, Titanium silver on black leather. Premium package. Absolutely stock and proud of it.

My SAs actually go out of their way to save me money. They are very honest and dependable guys I trust. It's a shame you've had such negative experiences. Maybe I just got lucky, but it's all I've known the past 6-7 years.

If you grease your SA, you would be amazed at some of the things they do. Next time, when you're not sure if they'll work on your car, throw them a $50 or $100 and see what happens. Trust me...and another member on this board.
