I am noticing steering wheel vibrations under heavy to moderate braking. I took my car into the dealership to diagnose the problem while getting an oil service as well. My brakes aren't due for another 9,000 miles. My SA told me it would not be covered under my cpo warranty or maitienance warranty if the rotors were not under specs and i would be charged around 190 for them to check. Does this sound correct?

Hmm...member Glock-357 just had the dealer replaced his brakes due to vibration issues under warranty on his M5. I think he did it at Stevens Creek BMW but not sure. PM him and maybe he can give you more info.

Your relationship with the SA may make a big difference as well. When I privately purchased my CPO E60, the previous owner brought it in to have the microfilter changed, and they also replaced the front rotors under good will before turning over the car to me.

Check the details of the maint agreement. Professionally point out the covered items. Also remind him that out-of-round rotors are a safety problem. (If you are stopping in wet weather, the car is more likely to try to skid.) (Then again, maybe I am all wet.)
What I would do is call a few BMW dealerships out of town and ask for service mgr. If you approach those guys (on the phone) with a good attitude and remind them that you are just looking for correct BMW info, they will be helpful.
Keep us posted.

i got my dealership to replace mine under cpo deal. it had about 500 miles on it since i bought it and i started to notice slight vibration a low application. come to find out they swapped bads and never did rotors after previous owner reported noise. work them they should pay for it. however my pal who owns independent shop told me if you take it out and put it through some paces ie heavy braking sometimes it wears of flat spots. but if totally shot then i dont know
