Ok, the dealer is now telling me that the residual on my order for an ED 545i is based on US MSRP and not on ED MSRP. So he says its $38,520 and I am thinking its $36,674. Its a big deal at the end if I decide to keep the car. Is he right? Why should I go to europe then if I am not leasing a ED priced car? please help.

I don't know if he is right or not but your lease payments would be lower if its based off of the higher MSRP because you are amortizing less money. I think he probably is correct. The finance company dictates the residual wich is a guesstimate of the cars future value. Your future value of your car should not be different because you got it through ED>

I personally fought long and hard to get this fixed with BMW. I worked directly with BMW NA on numerous channels plus I embarassed them on the internet. BMW Enthusiasts doing Euro Delivery should be grateful for what i accomplished on this one.

Using your deal as an example. Basing the lease on US MSRP for the residual value reduces your payments by $63 per month or roughly $2,300 over the life of your lease, including interest. The logic is simple. The car is turned in and resold in the US. The US market does not care if you drove it in Germany before it was shipped here. Euro Del cars have the exact same residual value as US Delivery cars.
