In which case I find it hard to understand
But that's MY problem!!

ABC

You are loosing me here mate, let's start again.

The guy was asking what to expect discount wise.......

new 530i with all the toys is around ?45k so ?41k after discount and will be worth around ?20k in 3 years.

An 06 plate 550i xdem would be around ?45k and worth around ?23k in 3 years time.

An 06 plate M5 would be around ?60k and worth around ?35k in 3 years.

An 05 plate M5 could be found for around ?50k now and would still be worth around ?30k in 3 years.

I personally think it is financial madness to buy a 530i new and fill it with options (an M5 new full of options makes more sense) for only a few quid more you could buy a year old M5 will all those toys and more, and over 3 years it would probably cost you less each month in depreciation.

Put it like this, my car comes out at ?50k new, after discount it was ?46k, it is now 1 year and 2 months old and it is worth around ?32k, I paid considerably less than the discounted price, but if I had bought new I would be crying!

Forget options, they mean nothing unless you want to try and sell it privately, but this is Glass' valuation on the 535d se with leather and Nav...

BMW 5 Series 535d SE

Part-exchange Price:Excellent condition: ?34000

most dealers are trying to give the middle figure at the moment, quite scary!!

That's only a 6k depreciation if you lose the tax from the new car price - so not too shabby.

How do you work that out??

If it is a company car you can claim the tax back, but only 50%, so that is ?3450 that you can claim back on ?46k, so as a personal buy it has lost just over ?13,500 in year 1 or ?1125 a month, or as a company buy it has lost just over ?10k or ?879 a month.

But as a company car not only would it have lost my company ?879 a month I would also have personally paid another ?600 a month in BIK tax!

Glad I bought it 6 months old a personal car, it costs less a month than the tax would cost as a company car!
