My new motor due to be delivered on Friday will be driven 260 miles from Brighton to Manchester (UK), rather than transported by truck!
Reason - now are you sitting comfortably - 'because the transporter is not insured to carry the new five series'. Three series yes, Z4 yes, 5 or 7 series no.
Straight from the dealers mouth that little gem! Am I being unkind? Or am I suffering from the fact the car will be leased, not bought by me?
If I could take the day off, I'd pay for the train myself.
Anyone else heard of a similar excuse?
PS to all - great forum, I can't wait to speak from experiance.

I had this on a car I leased that was coming from Birmingham to where I had lived while in the UK in London... The transporter company wasn't insured for the amount of the car (00 540)if an incident occured.... I want and picked up my own car.
I would suggest calling the suppliers bluff and asking to pick it up yourself. Come on... it's a great reason to bunk off for a day.

bah, we've had this before. NO WAY would I let some spotty oik drive the first 250 miles in your new baby. What on earth is the point of paying for a NEW car, otherwise?
Day off, on the train (although I only had 70 miles to go).
