Continuing saga of my slam problems, following PUMA to BMW and 2 test drives by the Dealers technical manager. I am now told that 2 gearbox specialists from BMW UK want to come and test drive my car.
Appointment date awaited.
Let's hope the stupid car decides to misbehave whilst they are here.

I've read quite alot about this in various places, this is obviously not just a UK problem and I gather the Germans are the furthest down the road.
I thought 530d's were the main sufferers, this is the first time I have seen 535d's mentioned (which is why I didn't cancel mine). Software update is reported to bring temporary respite, although as most say problem then returns, I suspect the initial improvement may only be the triumph of hope over reality.
They have started changing torque converters in Germany which they seemed to think had fixed it. I will try and find where I have read this (could be on here) and post the link.
Any more 535s with the same problem? (I'm getting worried now...)

I'm another sufferer of this annoyance! It's going in next Monday for the s/w upgrade but to be honest I'm not overly-confident it'll fix it after reading all this!!!

Got my 535 in June 05. No slam probs but no mp3 so I upgraded CIP to 20. Many issues were fixed but tranny has got very aggressive. I wouldnt say it slams but I can def. feel it shift both up and down. I am annoyed even when I try to be super smooth with the gas I feel the fcker change. What should I do?

My car is in today as discussed in the thread earlier, (overnight infact) and it is getting a reprogramme. I'll make sure I ask what version when I pick her up in the morning. Mixed feelings as ive seen some negs relating to latest CIP in some of the threads. Fingers crossed.

From other readings I think you have it stateside on the big petrols that we don't have in the UK (545/550). Seems to be torque related(?) which is why the big diesels show it here.
I was getting the feeling that something might be underspecced in view of the current power of the 530d, which the 535 didn't suffer from because it has an uprated transmission. What I am reading here seems to disprove that theory.

If this issue is just on the Diesel, why? Is there a differnt tranny in it? Help me with this one ok.
See this related thread for an explanation from ZF who make the tranny.

Yup, that is my Lurching Jaguar.
Same Gearbox. ZF 6HP26
EXACTLY the same faults as described here.
EXACTLY the same response from Jaguar. I've had so much bull from them - "Please wiat for a software upgrade". Lots of shrugging shoulders and being patronisingly informed "it is an adaptive gearbox". Yes, but it should adapt to me - not me having to adapt to its bloody temperament !
Took 3 years to cure the roll-out lurch but the lurch while slowing to a crawl then gently accelerating is STILL there.
It would appear that a slam/Lurch is a normal thing and can be expected when you have paid ?45k for a luxury car.
Last Jaguar I buy - I will think LONG and hard before I buy another car with a ZF Gearbox.
Good luck trying to get a cure !!
