I just ordered a Silver Grey 530i yesterday and the dealer faxed over the build sheet with production number.

The http://oc.bmwusa.com website says my car is a Jet Black 525xi!!! Anybody know what could be wrong here?

Thanks,
Jeff

Well I'm not your dealer (so it's probably safe to ask them for confirmation) but I'll venture to guess that the dealer had already ordered a JetBlack 525xi as part of their allocation for whatever production month your order is in. If nobody stepped up to order a car, it might have been built that way and end up on the dealer lot as inventory. Now that you've placed an actual order, they're probably going to change the order from what they originally ordered to what you ordered. Doing it this way gets you a car faster since you don't have to "go to the end of the line" as far as what the dealer has allocated to them and it saves the dealer money since they don't have an unsold car sitting on the lot.

The owner's circle (as well as the automated phone system -- see the FAQ for more details) is always a few days behind so it's likely to change to reflect your car soon. Again, you can verify this with the dealer to be sure...

Don't worry. This happened to me too. The dealer told me to check back in a few days and sure enough, it was fixed. You'll be fine. Just make sure your dealer knows this, so he can double check on his end.
