Dude, it is just a car. Please do not think this raises you above the level of other drivers.? I have a 545 also; nice car.? People do not 'Respect You" for your car, trust me.? They could care less.?

It would be helpful if "Doug" actually read what was stated, instead of making unnecessary accusations for things that were not said. BurgessMW stated "We all know there are faster cars yet clearly, THIS CAR commands respect."

I have had my 545i here in SoCal since Apr 04 and I still get the kind of behavior that BurgessMW describes above. Nothing else on the road looks like it, so if for no other reason, other drivers are simply curious and want to "size up the car."

That being said, no one on this e60 forum believes a car "raises you above the level of other drivers" -- that would be another forum you are looking for.

this is not a good sign...she'll drive as much as she can and you won't have a chance to touch it .

I see other drivers, especially people in older BMWs, especially 3s and 5s, watching closely. My 545 is Mystic, and a nice bright blue new GTO was following me around, too.

Doug - IMHO, you are wrong. On the road, the 545 DOES earn respect.

Sorry, but that is just plain BS. You just spent a lot of money on a kickass car. You are excited, proud, whatever. I know becuase I have one to; I love mine. But, that said, nobody cares about you or your car. People are just trying to get to where they want to go and when you play smart ass and block people from passing just for the hell of it, then you are being silly and selfish. BTW, the guy in the 330C Hemi or GTO paid less (about 1/2) than you and can almost stay with you. I do not judge a car soley on speed, but in the context of the original post, this is an issue.

I still stand by my original reply that said that people in Suburban Chicago drive like crap.
