My car is arriving tomorrow at the NJ VPC, will I get a loaner from the BMW dealer in this case or should I have to wait?

Nick, my car arrived at the SC VPC about 2-3 days ago. I was hoping for delivery in 7 to 10 days. The car was ordered the last week in May. I suspect it will be at least Jul 30. I know that a fair amount of work is done on the cars at the VPC so another 3 hrs for the ECU is not much. It all comes down to the availabilty of the part. My dealer is in Atlanta and he will ship the car down to me on a flat-bed truck - approx. 8 hour trip.

Samyt - you are a lucky man, even though my car was built before yours I'm sure you'll be driving it home before me .

My local dealership just called me to let me know that BMWNA had informed them that BMWAG is shipping 500 units this week and they should be at the US dealerships by the end of the week - no way to know if I will be one of the lucky 500, but at least BMWAG is being more responsive to the North American market this week.

Hopefully the first units will go to the cars at the VPC LIKE MINE . I'm going to call my CA and bug the hell out of him every day until my car has arrived at the dealership. The squeaky wheel gets the grease?

C'mon, don't give me that "we are just second class customers" BS again... !?
You know this isn't true. If that would be the case there wouldn't be a factory in the US, there wouldn't be such ED program or a BMW NA llc.
Would you like to get a replacement DME today what wouldn't be BMW quality instead of waiting for BMW quality ?
Most of the times you are getting stuff waay earlier than we do.
Little example ?:
I ordered my 545iA (97K Euro!!!) January 14th and took delivery May 25th.
In the same time I know that there were MANY others who ordered their US spec e60 later than I did, and they received it (in the US) earlier than me.
And don't forget... All e60's are coming from the Dingolfing plant and I live just four hours away...
Now - do you still think you are a second class customer ?
I guess not...

Iceman - I will wait until my car is repaired and returned to me before I make a final assessment of this experience. My dealer did make it clear to me that the 500 DMEs being shipped would not be enough to repair all of the vehicles effected by this "service action".

Hi,

My car is also affected by this recall. Just wondering how much work is involved in replacing the part. Do they need to take anything apart? Where is the part located in the car anyway?

thanks

Tekor

tekor, I am not quite sure where the DME is in the E60, since mine is yet to arrive, but I have ben told the repair takes about three hours.
