I always find it interesting people talk about salvaged title never having owned one themselves.

My first car (wrx) was salvage title. Dealers cannot deny original warranty due to the state of the title. My wrx was worked on under warranty until it got all smashed up two years later.

Also insurance may salvage a vehicle depending on the customer needs. I had my 07 daytona 675 salvaged and it wasnt anywhere near 50% in damages. I asked state farm to do it for personal reasons and they did. End of story.

With a salvage title car you can get a smoking deal. My wrx was an 02 with 3,000 miles on it fully loaded for 9,000. Had it inspected by a subaru specialist and he gave it a green light as the damage was only cosmetic.

Insurance doesnt change either based on title of a vehicle. Its based on your location and driving record.

All right, I'll bite...

As I previously provided, the definition and obilgations of "salvaged" title varies from state to state. However, unless it is spedifically mandated by state law, BMW has the absolute right to refuse warranty service on a salvaged car. BMW's service warranty is an express warranty and is limited to the orginal owner or bona fide subsequent purchaser. Same as a CPO warranty. Plus BMW obviously has compelling reasons to refuse to honor its repair warranty to salvaged cars, given it has no control over the repair efforts or the parts used.

However, BMW's warranty obligations differ from national recalls mandated by the NTSB, and BMW may nonetheless honor certain recalls specfic to a model regardless of the title.

The same rationale applies to insurance, again it depends on the state the insurance was issued and which state issued the salvaged title.

With that said, I agree that salvaged cars can offer terrific deals, I know I own one. However, the consumer should know the benefits and risks and should research the specific laws of the state they live in.

BMW does not have the "right" to refuse warranty work based on the title of the car. Just like a lien, or a repossession. Doing so will result in a lawsuit. They can however limit the amount of work they will do if the car doesnt have quality OE parts (not oem).

Show me that BMW NA policy states that and I will take back what Ive said.
