My car is due to arrive at the dealer tomorrow.( 545i with sports pkg).
They advise that the optional Travel Gard Road Hazard Protection 3 year program is great value and almost a must with the sport package and the amount of driving I do.
I see mention on the various boards, what the high cost of repairing or replacing the run-flat tires is, not to mention wheels. That probably makes it a good idea to get.
I do a lot of driving between NY,NJ, and Ct in the US(Example, got 283,000 miles on my '97 528i) and the roads are not the best.
Did any one get the program, and has anyone made use of it?
I hit a large pot-hole in the rain earlier this year, and blew a tire. I'm sure if I had my 545i with run-flats, the wheel would have been damaged as well.
Ideas appreciated.

One of my run-flats picked up a drywall screw after 1700 miles. Cost to replace/install tire: $461.

I submitted paperwork for reimbursement.

The downside to the road hazzard warranty is that it is tire specific. That means I have to keep the same tires and replace with the same tires.

Otherwise, it's very cost effective. I wonder how long it will be until the prices are raised?

You might want to ask if they have 4 and 5 year policies if you're interested in a longer coverage period.

If the policy is in affect and you're tire wears out normally, just replace the tire and it's still covered as long as it's the same brand/type of tire.
