I have heard that the price increase from the previous model year did not go up as much for the 54x as it did for the 530 so that would seem like some built in value for the 545 over the 530. I also remember reading some where that when a dealer has his little book out figuring the value of your car extras that you pay for up front like say leather seats or auto dimming mirrors that are not included in the base 530 may not be calculated by said dealer. But since these items are part of the base 545 they will always be included in the value of the car. And don?t forget a lot fewer 545?s are built. Those are the things that stuck in my mind when trying to justify the 2200 dollars per extra cylinder of the 545. And of course those G forces during the test drive.

In the UK, the 530 d and 525d hold value way better than their petrol brothers, the 545 drops the most in value.

I'm sure its down to fuel economy and high prices....my spec 530d is costing the equivalent of $80,000...........ouch, a similar spec 545i would come close to $100,000 and the fuel here is rapidy approaching the $8 gallon......

still there are some reasons to live here I think?

gentlemen, please... the weather - down south at least - has been magnificent!

as for the resale, i would say forget the past stats and trends.

my prediction is that diesels will have the best resale, and the 525/520 petrol following well ahead of the 545.

why?
because the 545 depreciates that much more in real ?/$ from a % perspective
and
petrol is never going to cost less, and is most likely to continue rising over the next three or four years...
and
somehow, i suspect, petrol in America is going to get a lot more expensive

I still think the V8 will do best in the USA, you boys love your big engines.

It will, however, take a real kicking here in the UK
