My former 550 had the following problems in its first 50,000 miles:

1. creaking window seals
2. broken driver-side cupholder release button
3. burst in power-steering hose lead to complete P/S and ARS failures
4. faulty "SZL" steering angle sensor lead to inoperable DSC
5. intermittent iDrive failure (blank screen every 3-6 startups)
6. faulty clutch and throwout bearing made it 2-3x harder to depress clutch pedal
7. clicking on right turns caused by faulty right front wishbone
8. replaced leaky "diagnosis/DTML" pump which keeps emissions in check

Total bill: $0.00

Knowing the warranty was going to expire, I immediately got rid of the 550 just shy of the 50k mark and moved up the power ladder to the M5. So far, the M5 has been Honda-reliable. Zero defects after 11 months and 12,200 miles. I wonder if a Honda engineer put my car together, haha.

Most of time, ownership of BMWs are either hit or miss it.
You will either have prone for breakdowns or a bulletproof reliability.

One of advantage of buying a CPO is that you will know the history of the vehicle in for the warranty works.
Ask the salesman and he/she will going to give a print out or read it to you what has been done. Then you
can see if this particular vehicle has been good or bad.

What I have done so far with when I purchased 2 CPOs and 1 from CarMax is that, look for a car that has options/color combo AND no more than
30k miles. Look for the VIN history and determine it should be mine or let it pass. My belief is that, if the car is problematic, it should have
started within that 30k miles. Plus if the vehicle is within 30k miles, you know that tranny fluid, coolant, brake fluids, etc are
coming up not past due and only been in 15k mile oil change intervels twice. I hate free BMW maintenance. It's getting harder and harder to find a good CPO that has been *MAINTAINED* properly!!

My 08 M5 was brand new; 10 miles on the odometer at delivery. The 06 550 was also new.

Hello everyone I am New to this forum need some help
I am looking into getting a 2007 550i, but I will like to hear from owners about the reliability of the car since consumers report give it a below average? what is your opinion and what problems you are having with the car?

Thanks for your feedback
I would not do it. These cars are great when new but with age they often develop small problems that a typical dealer cannot resolve. Warranty or not does not really matter. Warranty just guarantees that you don't spend money but does not guarantee that your car will be fixed. These cars are just to complex for most dealers shops. 2 years 20-25K miles is a safe period and only if you get lucky. More than 3 years or 30K miles, better get a Lexus.

Idk about getting a Lexus. Those cars really show their age after a while.
The start rattling and making weird noises after only 23k miles.
