Congrats. I too didn't get a good deal from my local dealers so had to go as far away as north of LA to get a good deal.

Firewire,
Same here that bought E60 just because of the kid. My previous car was RX330. It drove like a dung heap. Test drove 530iA just for fun and got hook

Welcome Frank, you really should be my530i so you enjoiy the car. That scitzo stuff could end up damaging your car since frank doesn't like them.

Wow, I am impressed! I don't know wether it is a good thing or a bad sign. My dealer called back with my order number after putting in my order last night, and I got a vehicle in status 112 due to enter production today. Either I got lucky getting a vehicle that was at the last possible moment of being configurable or this may be a sign that there is not a lot of demand.

What do you all think?

Every dealer is alloted a certain number of cars each month based on their sales. The 545 is obviously made in lower numbers than the 525 and 530, those production slots are at a premium. You probably just got lucky and the dealer had one of its already allocated 545's heading into production. Given the popularity of your color and option choices, it was either already ordered that way by the dealer or the changes were minor (adding the Sirius radio) and could be made. Congrats on the car! You'll be very pleased w/ the Silver Gray, that's what I have. And with 2 kids under 5 and rain every 2-3 days here in New Orleans, the Silver Gray stays much cleaner looking, longer.

I agree with kscarrol and that you should consider yourself lucky.

Or maybe it's a sign to keep the 996

Oh man!!! My other car is a Targa (02). I think it's by far the best and rarest of the C2 series. Up here in Boston, I've never seen another one on the road. I couldn't bear giving it up. Have you thought about a second, third or fourth mortgage?? Don't you think the new kid can get a full scholarship to college?? Does your wife work??

Just kidding. I'm lucky that I could do both and absolutely have a hard time chosing which one to drive. You'll love the E60. Good luck.

I had considered (drove, did numbers, etc.) an '04 C4S but ended up with the 545. I, unfortunately, need to roll my "car enthusiast", "family guy" and "work car" all into one. The 5 is the best - dare I say "compromise" - of the three.
The Porsche is fun, but at 6'0" and 2(much) lbs. it was quite small.
No Regrets!!
