I will give it a try tomorrow. I already used the cupholder on day 2 without any issues, and as far as I know I pressed the button the same way. I'll report back tomorrow.

During handover of my car the sales man was surprised when the cup holder wouldn't work when he pressed it, sounds like a common fault from the factory. He whisked the car away for 5 mins and it's worked fine ever since

How come the E60 slides back on a slope unlike my old E39? Is this a fault?

Hi Guest_Kiasu King

What's your ride? I had my 530i back sliding problem checked yesterday at the dealer's (PML).

They suspected that the RPM is too low at idle and upped the RPM by 100 revs. I have not got the chance to approach a slop but will do so and report back. Meanwhile, I could feel the engine on the steering wheel more than I did previously - this is obviously due to the increase in RPM. I am sure it is going to up the fuel consumption too.

I think it's definitely caused by the low idle rev. Wish I could just adjust the idle rev thru the IDrive (this stupid IDrive lets u adjust things that aren't necessary, but not things that are really needed). The engine is too tame at idle IMO, miss my old E38 roaring engine start. Then again, this car saves me a lot of gas money.

Bunbun,

Why do it yourself when you can get someone with the right equipment to do it?

Anyway, I got my car back from the dealer and talked with this engineer who adjusted the revs for my car - he told me that he has upped the RPM by 100 revs and you know what,

IT SOLVED THE PROBLEM!!!!

I tested the car on a slope (gradient of some 35% or so) today and she stayed steady.

I suspected those people who have the jerking problem from standstill may have their problem solved if they upped their RPMs too. Somehow the gear is NOT coupled properly at lower revs.

Anyone have this problem solved by adjusting their RPMs higher?

My E60 engine overheated at 177 miles on the odometer.
Since there is no temperature gauge, did you get an OBC warning in the display and could you please tell me what the message said. Just curious. Thanks.

My car which is an December 03 build E60 530D has a bad vibration which goes right through the car when idling. The dash also vibrates at 1500 rpm when driving, BMW have had 4 attempts to cure the problems but have failed and i have rejected the car. Has anyone on here with a 530 had anything similar ? BMW have agreed to buy the car back from me and give me a new one.

18" Bridgestone Potenza Run Flats.
Rear right tire has developed a slow leak.
Probably came like that when I picked up the car because 2 mo. ago it was 10lbs low.

2900 miles on car now, after 6 mos.

Also, the steering wheel doesn't lift up automatically after the key is removed from the ignition.
