Problems Encountered

Sounds like some of you also got the airbag/restraint/belt tensioner fautly message. Wonder what your dealers did to cure the problem, and how many trips to the shop did it take? Mine so far, 2 trips, supposedly a door module changed, faulty message comes back on next day after shop both times.

After i took redelivery on my 545 there was no sound whatsover coming out of the speakers. I took it to the dealer and they found out that the amplifier was bad. They ordered the part and i am supposed to bring the car in tomorrow so they can replace it and reprogram the car.
Everything else seems to be fine.
BMW Customer Service was very helpfull with this issue as well.
This is NOT a common problem so don't worry.
P.S.
This car is definately the "Ultimate Driving Machine"!

Got my 530i in Olivin Green in late April 2004 and am very perturbed with quite a few problems. I thought I shall highlight to the dealer when I next visit for a service:-
1. Part of the plastic moulding on the steering is not symmetrical - slightly warpped!
2. I have a static problem with the radio - more so on a particular bandwidth.
3. Wipers seemed to be rather "tight" and makes a "rough" sweep even when there is quite a heavy rain.
4. ALL 4 doors are so squeaky and it is very annoying,
5. When at a complete halt on a slope (30 degree gradient, maybe) the car slides down a little even if the gear is in drive!
6. Rough gear change is felt when the car is make to almost stop (say to slow down for a hump) and press to go on the accelerator.
7. The Run Flat Tires supplied (Dunlop) is rather noisy.
8. Engine vibration is felt on the steering (active) at standstill.
9. Bootlid cannot be opened from the cabin - have got to physically disembark if bootlid not locked - got to switch off engine and use the remote key to open the boot if bootlid is locked!
10. Turn indicator programmed to only flash 3 times - rather insufficient for a short flash - if only can program to 5 or 6 times may serve a better purpose.

Squaky wipers? A change would likely help.
Is there no button to open the bootlid?
Read the manual - it will tell you that you've got the ability to change the setting for the indicators yourself.
Although, I'm glad to hear that you slow down when humping. Humping at higher speeds is not recommended

Thanks paasan.
You are right - there ain't a switch to open the luggage comaprtment from the inside! This switch, which is supposed to be just below the OBD interface is obviously missing. Wonder if the wire harness is inside a I could just simply add a switch - you would imagine how inconvenient it is w/o this feature.
With regards to the turn indicator - yes you are able to choose between flashing once (if deactivated) or flash 3 times if activated. IMO it would be so much better to allow us to choose flashing between 1 to 9 times maybe.
Do you have other problems that I have mentioned. Maybe others could be facing similar problems.
Thanks paasan.

I took delivery of my E60 only 4 days ago and I noticed today that the driver's cupholder has some problems to pop out if you press on it! I hope it is just too new and will start working better when using it more. If not, I will ask my dealer to fix it!
I think I read some other posts mention this problem. If you know what the fix is, please let me know.
