With the older nav systems, if you did a country reset, ie told it it was in the UK then reset it to usa, it was fooled into thinking it wasn't in usa and dropped the lawer screen. Don't know how you would do this on the E60 but there is a bmw nav group on yahoo that someone is bound to know about this tweak.

Rollee, I'm using a canon D10 and selection of lenses so hopefully I'll get a few of my baby in a wee while,

Das.. any possibility of having a users gallery type part of the forum?

*for those concerns regarding bluetooth, i am very experienced with this technology and have been using it for over two years. the solution is simple you need not wait for bmw's BT, any bluetooth phone will work (BT is a universal standard of data transfer protocol), just use a bluetooth headset (sony ericsson make the best kinds), specifically look for HBH60/65 or HBH600. i recommend motorola v600, or sony ericsson t68i/z600/p800/900 all works great. the catch is most bluetooth phones are only GSM compatible, which means your choice of service providers are in a way limited. eg t-mobile, cinguar, att in the US or fido, rogers in canada. if you are not a subscriber to these, you will need to subscribe to their network thus getting a new number, this for some can be a problem.

I just wanted to say that the SE P800 & P900 do NOT work with the BMW bluetooth carkit. Although bluetooth is a universal thing, bluetooth devices tend to use different kinds of profiles to communicate with other bluetooth devices, now the BMW bluetooth carkit uses the carkit profile, while the SE P800/P900 only support the handsfree/headset profiles resulting in being incompatible. So just remember that not every device will be compatible.

Basically, it works by fooling iDrive to make it think the warning's been acknowledged. The poster included pictures and indicated the device should be available in 2 months or so (from his post) and that it should be easily installable by almost anyone, except the completely clueless (I may fit in to this category!.

Are you sure that this device is being developed for the E60? I think that I also saw the same thread somewhere but it was definately for the E39 since you were suppose to connect it to the CD Changer cable (=I-Bus connection), located in the trunk.

Johan: I'm pretty sure we're talking about the same post but I don't remember a lawyer warning on my E39. I don't remember exactly why I thought it was for an E60, but something made me think that. Didn't the E39's use MOST, or is that interface brand new? Thanks.

I think MOST is the fibre-optic new system.

everybody here got a great cool ride. we should have a meet.

i understand this screen thing is one those lawyer jargens, not bmw's fault. well got to find some inconveniences, what to do?

while i am in the small faults department, i am not liking the key hole to the trunk at all.
for a car this high tech and being 'checkmate', i am sure they can eliminate this keyhole like most other bmws (or any other high end for the matter). the fact to manuelly locking the trunk outside bla bla bla does not convince me that this thing needs to be there. it actually disturbs the ambience of the rear view of the e60. i see it as a huge hickie on your beloved's mikly rear. my 2?.

das a gallery section will be awesome. i concur.

i was waiting for someone to point out the bridgestone run flats (RFT) rather than the dunlops, very observant gdavis. i too was a bit surprised and i can confirm they exist. i have not driven the dunlops so a comparison is not possible at this time. so far i did not notice any extra noise cause i am too busy playing with other toys. there is no pump in the trunk anywhere, maybe these bridgestones work even better? a note for future to discuss perhaps.

i have bmw assist included with the car for a year, apart from the energency contact (hope never to use it) i have no clue which other things it can do, ie useless. i was told it is still in a very primitive stage completely unlike the onstar nor boomerang.
there's no 'good morning mr bond, where would you like to go today?' in this ouzzing sexy female voice from texas.

johan what i meant to suggest is by using other bluetooth phones, headsets or speakers to completely bypass bmw's BT carkit. BT headsets are tiny and comfortable, can be completely hidden anywhere. just program one of the * buttons on the steering wheel to mute music when you receive a call, this is my solution. on another note i never knew bmw's BT profile is different, arn't all BT v1.1 and up supppose to find each other? i appreciate the heads up.

ethan its you who bought my car. hahaha!
more pics will follow. rollee

I didn't realize the keyhole was eliminated from other BMW's.

How else can you override the lock for valet purposes? Obviously you really never have to use the key unless you wish to use the valet features.

I can honestly say that I've owned BMW's since 1989 (E30 M3) and have probably used the keyhole in the trunk a total of five times. Your mileage may vary though.

rudy you might be correct, i thought my e46 does not have a keylock in the trunk? but even if it is there i have not noticed it as much as on the e60. i have never used it nor the driver's side key lock since my first e46 . valet service does not thrill me too much. rollee

Rollee - I think I mis-read your post, though you were referring to BMW's bluetooth carkit.

Sam - I just did a search on bimmerfest and found the thread back, here it is: Get rid of accept screen Unfortunatelly, as I already suspected, it's for the E39 only.

Also just to get this straight, the E39 uses the I-Bus (also used by 3 Series/Z4/X3/X5) for which this device is being developed and the new E60 uses the MOST bus (which is an optical bus, and is also used by other high-end car manufacturers like Mercedes and Audi).
