Those parts seem not the be where they should be.

But why would they be there, to support the suspension?
What would the idea be with that?
Why they are installed I don't know, but I'll guess it is to avoid simultaneous movement of the transported cars. Picture your self with 20 or so cars in haul, and then you suddenly need to break........

No, it did not look a bit high. As you can see of the picture the pieces are out of position, not sentered so to speak. It seems like it is only the protection tube that have kept the pieces in place. I cannot say I notice any difference after removing them either, so I'm pretty sure they have not obstructed the movement of the suspension. I will try to figure out where they come from in the first place, and how long they have been there.

Can anybody confirm that these plastic pieces / Shipping blocks are original BMW items?
I don't know if these are an official BMW bit, but how else could they have got there ?

In any event, they've definitely damaged the rubber gaiter's and I think you need the dealer to replace them and make sure there is no other damage.

I talked to the local dealer this week, and he told me that these blocks were installed at the factory. The purpose according to him was to "lift" the car to avoid any scratches to skirts etc. when moving the car in and out of stores (as well as loading the car for transport).
