Cool

Last year, after returning my leased 2001 330ci, a car that I loved, I bought a 2004 MB E320 (I have to admit I didn't like the new styling of the E60 at first so thought I'd try the Mercedes). The E320 is like a boat on wheels and has zero power. I couldn't stand it so I then started to drive my wife's VW Toureg V8 which is a great SUV but is thirsty on gas. Finally, I bought a new 2004 Audi S4 in January, 2005. A great car that is a rocket on wheels but just not for me at this point in my life (I turned 40 in Feb)

Over the last few months, I've been seeing more and more E60s around my town and have to admit that the Bangle design started to grow on me. Went for a test drive in the 545i and I was hooked. I had to have it....you have to love how BMWs drive.

Today, I ordered my Titanium Silver/Black interior 2005 545i with premium, cold weather and sport packages along with the navigation and satellite radio. Oh yeah, it's a steptronic. I might keep the S4 for the weekends but must say that I love the power and handling of the 545i.

I'll post pics when I pick it up in 2 weeks.

Thanks to everyone on this board. I've been lurking and reading your posts for weeks. I didn't feel right posting until I actually bought the E60.

I look forward to years of driving enjoyment. It's great to be back with a BMW!!!

You've just reserved a space for yourself in heaven now.... good choice. Yeah, we were all saying, "you know, that Asahi bloke, he'd better choose the right car or else... he'd be off this forum in no time!"

Exclamation

I think I saw pictures of your ED 545i. Isn't it Titanium Grey?? I love that color and almost went that route. Truly a beautiful car.

My SA just told me that my car was completed on March 17, 2005 and is en route now. March 17 was St. Patty's Day. I'm wondering how much green beer the Germans drink????? Car could be missing a engine or something???

Yes, it is Tit. Grey.

I think you'll be fine...I saw the tour in Dingolfing on the day before Good Friday and they looked to be putting stuff together correctly! Add to this that they were getting out at 12:30 that day for the 3.5-day weekend!

Congratulations! I would dump the S4. Ive driven those and they are not as much fun as the old bi-turbos, plus your 545i is just as fast. If you want a weekend car, pickup something really fun, like an M3 :-)

I'm willing to bet that your description of how you did not like the looks of the e60 and went the route of MB will be a constant theme we hear here over the next year. I know of so many people, including myself, that just flat out disliked everything about the new design. However, as we all know, the design comes to like and becomes very seductive over time.

Welcome to the club.
