According to my 2005 545's computer the oil service is due in 700 miles. The car is 10 month old and has 10,200 miles on it. I had the first oil service done by my dealer when the car was 6 month old with 6,500 miles on the odometer. At that time the oil service counter was not working for almost 3 month and showed 9,000 miles till the next service. The dealer fixed/corrected the counter somehow and when I got the car back it displayed 5,000 miles remaining till service. The counter will reach zero very soon. Nevertheless I would like to keep my 2 times per year schedule but I worried that when the counter reaches zero the car will refuse to start or will make permanent warning sounds and so on. Also what will be BMW reaction? Can this affect my warranty?

Can't see it affecting your warranty. Probably just a glitch that will work out over time?

It should be fine Your car will start and run just like normal I believe it will just start counting in the negative zone...

As for warranty it shouldnt... if you records of the past just bring it along and show your dealer THIS is why its in the negative zone...

My friend ran his MINI like 10K miles in the negative zone skipping the first free oil change cuz he changed it himself; the dealer did oil service 2 instead at like 25K miles and gave him no trouble at all. Hes going to be a BMW Tech soon... getting trained in FL as we speak.

One way to void your warranty is to not do the scheduled maintenance.

Is it conting down or it is stuck at 10,000? Mine was stuck at 9,000 and after the fix jumped to 5,000.

I am convinced mine does not work. It spent the first year saying 12000 miles or 11/2005 to next service, then I had it done and it's now said 6000 or 11/2006....it does not count down!

Have your service department look at SI B12 11 05, Date August 05 N62 in E60/E63 Reprogramming for Incorrect Oil Service. Maybe this will help in your case.
