Hello everyone,

This is my first time posting on this forum, although I have been reading up on it for a while now. I am very young and want to purchase my first "sign of success" car. I was planning to get a 335 covnertible, but I fell in love with the 08 550I with the aero kit. I just want to know if I have any chance of getting an 08 550i with Nav/ sport pack/ comfort access/ premium sound anywhere near invoice, maybe 500 over invoice for the price of the car? BTW, I want to finance the car.

Depends on supply and demand. Since the car is brand new and orders are being taken as we speak, I don't know if you'll have that much room to negotiate. However, since you're financing over leasing, you may have the upper hand to get the price closer to invoice. Your best bet is to wait 4-6 months after the release date. That's when pricing starts to drop. See if the rates come down. If they do, go in and haggle until you get to the price you want. However, I would still walk into a dealer today and ask them if they can do $500 over invoice. If they say no and won't budge, source a few other places. If they say no, come back in a few months after the supply goes up and demand goes down.

There is absolutely no way that you will get the 2008 550i for $500 over invoice. Your best bet is to do a European Delivery (ED). Negotiate with a ED friendly dealership for about $1500 over invoice. This scenario is very plausible. Only problem is that the wait is agonizing.

Yeah, what he said. We just got our next 2 months worth of allocation and the 08 5 series are quite scarce. A have a few already ordered and since these are somewhat new cars with new designs, be prepared to pay close to MSRP, especially for top dogs like 550i with the sport package. Even with a big dealership such as ours we are getting limited supply of them. The ED is a good way to bring down the price and enjoy a nice vacation.

Dan

BTW, the new 335i convertible is just as hot. Our dealership is marking them up by $5k for the 335i and like $2k for the 328i, but that's not to say if somebody REALLY wanted the car and can work the management then they may luck out with just MSRP. These cars (convertibles and 08 5 series) are just still too new to negociate........... Don't even talk about the 08 ///M3s!

Thanks for the info. I really want this car badly, but I want it for the summer and don't want to pay more than 65K total. I priced it out at 71K after taxes if I bought it at MSRP. I really like the 335 convertible as well, but would go with the 550 if I could get it at 65K.

I was in the same boat. I walked into the dealership focused on the 335 coupe but drove off the lot with a 550i.

Did you get a good deal on pricing? Or did you just pay MSRP?

That happened to me when I was deciding on what car to get, 335i sedan or coupe. I love the extra space, comfort and luxuryness of the 550i. The 3series just can't compare to it except in terms of performance, but then again I got the V8 so no problem there!

I got a little over $1k over invoice. The car was brand new, just got in the day before I got there. Still had the transport stickers all over.

The fastest way to send the feelers is by emailing the fleet/internet sales the exact car your looking for and see if they either have something close or will order for you. If you blind cc them you can literally check 100s of dealers in one shot.

Also...may sound funny but try EBAY motors section!!!! I almost pulled the trigger on our Suburban but my wife didn't want to deal with an out-of-state dealer.
