My Ride: On Order as of May 6- 2007 530i Titanium Grey and Grey Leather, with Sport Package, Premium Pkg, Cold Pkg. 2006 Porsche Boxster
Thumbs up

All,

I was setting up insurance for my new ride and the question of security came up. In the 2006 brochure there is a statement that says "...and stolen recovery services". This is located on page 44 under the heading "BMW Assist Services"

Is this a Lo-Jack feature of sorts? Is is covered by the first year of free service?

Any other conditions?

Thanks!

BMW Assist can use GPS to track your car if its stolen. However, they are only authorized to do so once they receive the police report, and like all GPS devices, the functionality can be disabled if the car is in a covered location or if they remove the antenna.

Yup, there is always some loopholes, but I did just save a bunch of money on my insurance.
