Leases still a bargain?
#1
I will be officially in the market in 6 months, and don't know if these fantastic leases will be available by then. I'm going to choose either the GS430, M45, or 545i, and at present it's a close race. The GS is supposed to come out with a 460 model, which sounds very interesting, and if I can get past the looks of the 5-series, the lease rates can't be beat. Are they still super low?

With the new model coming out in September, they most likely switch production from the '05 model to the '06 model in July. You also won't see many of the '05 545is on the dealer lots starting in August- selection will be limited. If you are leasing, you will see a much higher payment on the '06 models for 6-12 months after they are introduced. The money factor difference between the '06 530i and the '05 545i is enough to make the 545 CHEAPER than the 530. Buy now!
Looks like the rates have changed - when looking at LeaseCompare and the BMW website, the lease prices I see now are far different from what they were just a month ago. Oh well, guess I missed the opportunity, and it's back to the M45 and GS430
Are you sure? I heard the MF was still at .001 for the 545i and the residuals had moved down only 2% from April.... I don't think they've changed much since I placed my order.

It's just what the BMW website and LeaseCompare gave me. Perhaps at the dealer it is a different story, but I recall fully loaded 545i's leasing for $650-$700, now the same specs get you more like $850 on the BMW website and over a grand on LeaseCompare...
I hope I'm wrong, as I've already emailed a dealer for the scoop, and wonder if I like the car if I could order one and expect delivery sometime in November, when my lease could start.

lease rates on MY 2005 545i are lowest in this model run history, but will change soon to mirror current MY2006 530i rates . I have mine on order now and would encourage you to act ASAP if you want a lease deal that may not be repeated. Dealer can lock rates for 60 days max.
Also, remember to make sure that you use a level playing field in comparing figures; i.e. money factor, depreciation, term, miles, ,sale price, addlt costs(dest chg.), cap reduction, etc.
Comparing monthly payments is worthless without above.

Your best bet might be to talk to your BMW dealer and tell them you are interested in getting out of our MB and into a BMW-- they might be willing to work with you somehow to get you out of a MB lease.
Also, if you order the car say in end of July (assuming the rates stay roughly the same) you would take delivery in end of September, which would give you 2-3 months of overlap with the MB. You would have to do the math, but it still might make sense.
