I hate the fact that the 550i gets such poor gas mileage. It is not a money issue. It is more of an issue of having to fill my tank all of the time.
I get 21 mpg with mixed highway and city....I don't consider that bad gas mileage. And I drive pretty hard.

My old xi only averaged 23-24 on the same route to work.

my friend has an STS, which is much nicer then the CTS, and it doesnt hold a candle to my 535. the leather feels cheap, rides okay, nice NAV screen, doesnt look anywhere near as nice as an E60 though...

what is going on here?

You have that the wrong way round. The new CTS is a much, much better car then the STS.

Cadillac CTS - $37,535 - $59,680
Cadillac STS - $47,620 - $79,200

...someone may want to tell the people buying STS's that then...

Since when did price directly equate to value or performance? The CTS is the better car.

The regular CTS is generally accepted to be one the best cars from GM in years. The CTS-V is proving to be a match for the M5.

The STS is cadillacs top of the line vehicle. this is like arguing the 3 series is better then the 5 series. caddilac doest have a "7 series"

And some say, with justification, that the 3 series is indeed the better car. It wins way more awards than the 5 or 7.

The CTS is the better car. You're focusing only on price, and the STS is an older car built on a different platform.
