Hi SFC Miller,

Completely un-related to your car, but I had lunch at the restaurant over looking the Miraflores locks two weeks ago. It's really fascinating watching the ships squeeze through the locks. Tighter than getting an E60 into a UK parking slot.

I'm sure your car will turn up in time for your Birthday.

Cheers,

Malc.

OK, The BMW Owners Circle site says that my car is in transit to a vehicle processing center. It has been in this status for a few days. I've tried the WWW.2Wglobal.com site to try to track it via the vin#, but nothing shows up. The car is coming to California and I assume it will be delivered to Port Hueneme before being sent up to the Bay Area. It seems to me that enough time has passed for the Cargo ID to be registered.

Conclusion: The car is not on a Wallenius Wilhelmsen vessel. The Terrier was the most recent to leave on 6/5/04 with a destination of Port Huememe. My car does not appear to be on that ship.

So, is the vin# the correct way to track the car? Before I go pesster the dealer, any suggestions on what other Cargo ships it may be on? Thanks in advance.

Woodbeast: Did you do European Delivery? If so, you should e-mail Harms, the shipping company, and ask them what ship you are on. If you didn't do Euro Deliv., you might try the 800 # for BMWNA and see if they know what ship you are on. You might ask your salesperson to do it....I call that customer service. You ordered a very expensive car....not a case of bananas.

Marcus545,

Did not do Euro delivery. Thanks for the info. I agree that the dealership should be able to provide this information. Since it was nighttime (dealership closed) I just thought I would check with knowledgeable people of board before I contacted the dealership today. I'll probably swing by today. Worse case, I'll be able to see some 530s up close and personal again.

You have to enter in the full 17 character VIN, with no spaces, and all caps, into the Cargo ID field. Took me a few times before I got lucky and it worked.

BimmerJ,

Yes, I've been trying the full 17 character vin# (all caps) with no luck. Swinging by the dealer today to get a status. Thanks for replying.

Woodbeast,

I've also tried entering the full 17 character vin# (all caps) with no luck. I checked NYK's website, The Jupiter Diamond is on their roro/fleet vessel list.

I requested a password from NYK yesterday, haven't received a response yet. Has anyone tracked a NYK ship with this site?

Thanks for your posts,

I requested a username/password from NYK but I got no response. I have a feeling we car buyers are very low on their list of important customers.

Hey....in just a few days it will all be over!!

Update:

Stopped by the dealer today. The internet guy I worked with is on vacation. Talked to another sales guy. His reports indicated that the car shipped out on June 6th. (The report he had indicated the port OX (I have no idea what this is and neither did he.) and is scheduled to arrive at the VPC on July 5, 2004. I've sent an e-mail to BMWNA and see what they have to say. It sounds like I'll have the car by mid July though. I guess I should just sit back and wait and stop driving myself crazy. It will be here soon enough.

OX is probably Oxnard, California (which is near Port Hueneme where the ship docks.)
