I recently received a letter from BMWNA stating that my 545i was anticipated to arrive at the U.S. Port of Entry on 06/10/04. What is the average wait from the time an European Delivery vehicle enters the U.S. to arrival at BMW Dealership. Any information is greatly appreciated.

Hello:

I'm on the Jupiter Diamond also. Just for your info..Wallenius Wilhelmson's website (www.2wglobal.com) has that ship arriving on June 16th, not the 10th. I did a little math and it seems that 29 days from Southampton England to Port Hueneme is a bit too long considering it has no scheduled stops in between. So the 10th makes more sense unless this is just one slow-poke boat or it's making stop(s) that are not published. The letter I got from BMW also says the 10th. So, who knows.

Ask your dealership about the wait time from the VDC in So Cal to their front door. My dealer said only 3-4 days but I'm in San Diego, not AZ. Since your dealer probably gets cars every week from these ships they will know best.

That's interesting....I have read on several boards that people on the west coast contacted Wallenius Wilhelmson after they could not find what ship their car was on and they were informed that WW does not transport BMW's coming to the west coast anymore and they are handled by another company. But their website still indicates Port Hueneme as a destinations and as you mentioned the Jupiter Diamond is scheduled to arrive on the 16th. I wonder if BMW has switched back to WW (at least partially).

I'm 95% sure the Jupiter Diamond was in the Panama Canal today on her way to California. She's full of BMWs. I actually saved a pic of what I think is the ship on the live Webcam but for some reason I can't post it here. There was a big red Willenius W. ship going through alongside the JD. Cool stuff!

Marcus,
Excellent research. My wife I and enjoyed the photo from the web cam. I'm hoping my 545i reaches my dealership prior to my birthday on the 18th of June. I talked to my dealer Chris (Don Mackey BMW of Tucson) and he said my car should be there by that date.

Anyway, thanks for the post. I hope other folks with BMW's on board enjoy the photo of the JD as well.

Thanks again,

I won't be going to the VDC...San Diego to Port Hueneme is a problematic drive....you have to go through the little village of Los Angeles to get there and I'm not a masochist.

From what I can tell from www.2Wglobal.com the J.D. isn't due in until June 14th.
I'm sorry but it might not make it to AZ for the 18th.
