I have ordered a 545i through Laurel Motors in the Chicago area and will have to pay MSRP. Has anyone been able to buy a new 5 series with a discount off of list price?

A 545 with my specs will cost around $68,000 including taxes and all that mumbo-jumbo.

If I go with a 530i it will list at 58,445; my 545i will list at 62,520.

When I purchased my 1998 E39 540i in late 1997 at 3% over dealer invoice, the sales manager said he would do the same deal on my next BMW. Needless to say, I haven't forgotten those words...it will be interesting to see how good his memory is.

I built a 530i on Bmw USA website and it added up to $55,095. From what I hear if you are a BMW USA Club member you can get $1000 off of any new BMW. If this is true I will entertain all avenues to get me into a 5 series at the best price. With that said I will be waiting for the 535i anyway

The BMWCCA $1000 rebate for a new 5 is true. You need to be a member for a year to be eligible.

I was able to get a 530I for $1000 under MSRP. It took about calls to 10 dealers before one would budge. Luckily, the dealer is only 30 minutes away.

excuse my ignorance , but MSRP stands for manufacturer suggested retail price, doesn't it? if so, what does it mean to get a car 3% over dealer invoice? By the way, here in Spain I've ordered my 525i with a 3,75% under what you'd call MSRP in the US (official price call it here), so I assume that's a good deal.

bye, adi?s

Dealers charging more than list price/MSRP seems to be a US phenomenon
here in Europe i belive discounts are more common, got about 7% discount on the list price.

Drove a new E60 yesterday. It had sport and premium packages. Very nice...

Dealer confirmed that 3% over invoice would be no problem. I'll probably order within a month or so...no hurry because I want nav which won't be available until at least 2nd quarter of 2004.
