Actually for it to contact another dealer the software in the vehicle needs an update.

Retired: 2002 325I, Titanium silver on black leather. Premium package. Absolutely stock and proud of it.

Because I don't go to this dealership (too far away) or I do it myself and I also want to control my schedule for service. It's just annoying, especially after warranty is expired.

So, when BMW Assist expires, this feature will be disabled automatically. Right?
You may want to call BMW NA to see if they can change the "preferred dealer" for you since I think the car calls a central system that links back to the dealer. If not, then it sounds like the car itself need to be updated (but I think that method makes the least amount of sense from a technological standpoint.)

I got an email from the dealership, from which I bought my car, that my BMW contacted them requesting to be serviced.
I am wondering how this kind of communication works.

This is strictly confidential and if it ever gets back to either my dealership or BMW corporate I will deny it. There is a small gnome that lives in a secret compartment in the trunk of your car. When he detects that you need service, he uses a special gnome phone to call your dealership to tell them to call you to make an appointment.
