Actually for it to contact another dealer the software in the vehicle needs an update.

My Ride: 2006 525XI, Jet black on Dakota beige. Premium and winter packages. I consider myself a purist and intend to keep my car absolutely stock and shiny. 2008 328I Convertible, Sapphire black on beige interior. Premium package, NAV, iPod adapter. Retired: 2002 325I, Titanium silver on black leather. Premium package. Absolutely stock and proud of it.

Because I don't go to this dealership (too far away) or I do it myself and I also want to control my schedule for service. It's just annoying, especially after warranty is expired.
Well, then look at it as a reminder to yourself. If the service is free, why not just go to a dealer closer to you instead of doing the work yourself?

So, when BMW Assist expires, this feature will be disabled automatically. Right?
Don't think so. I don't think it's really part of the BMW Assist service, it's just using the same communication technology to contact the servicing dealer on record so even if your not an Assist subscriber, the service requests will still likely be sent.

You may want to call BMW NA to see if they can change the "preferred dealer" for you since I think the car calls a central system that links back to the dealer. If not, then it sounds like the car itself need to be updated (but I think that method makes the least amount of sense from a technological standpoint.)

I got an email from the dealership, from which I bought my car, that my BMW contacted them requesting to be serviced.

I am wondering how this kind of communication works.
This is strictly confidential and if it ever gets back to either my dealership or BMW corporate I will deny it. There is a small gnome that lives in a secret compartment in the trunk of your car. When he detects that you need service, he uses a special gnome phone to call your dealership to tell them to call you to make an appointment.

My dealership moved recently -- a few months ago, the gnome popped his head out of his compartment, gnome phone in hand, and asked me what their new number was...
